A little history

The current home owners of 9 Casey Road rented the home back in 1984 for about a year and loved it so much they just about begged the owner to sell it to them. In 1985 they were able to call it their own, they bought the home and immediately started to renovate it. Back then it looked more like a cottage than a home but it had a view that would not stop.

Today a dream come true

Today the home boasts 3 stories with multiple decks all designed to capture the water view.  1620 +/- square feet plus an unfinished lower level, out buildings, one car pass through garage, fireplaced living room, huge kitchen dining area w/fantastic views, master bedroom with multiple sliders, laundry room, office area, lower level workshop plus an incredible waterfront spot!

Recreational pursuits at your doorstep

The home owner loves to swim and he does so daily from his own dock.  He swims about a quarter mile one way out to Sandy Point and then back again to his home.  One thing that the home owners always thought was so very special about this location was the setting.  Surrounded by trees on the street side and water on the other side makes this an ideal location for the nature lover…think Blue Herons, ducks and geese, deer, turtles and birds galore.

Do you have a canoe or kayak?  Imagine spending hours kayaking down the Powwow River, exploring New Hampshire’s Atlantic White Cedar swamp forest all without having to load your boat on your car and drive?  The Powwow River is about 22 miles long and winds its way down through wetlands and marsh through low hills to trickle into the Merrimack River and of course from there out to the mighty Atlantic Ocean.

If all this wasn’t enough, this home also boasts an excellent commuting location being just a scant 15 minutes from Amesbury Mass and route 95. This makes for an ideal Massachusetts commute.  East Kingston is also part of the very desirable Exeter School system and has been able to retain that New England small town feel with a population of, according to the 2006 Census, 2,306 residents.  Everything you could want is within easy reach of this location, golf courses, fine dining, shopping and outdoor recreation or all types.

Southern New Hampshire is lucky to be home to many lovely lakes and ponds and since Jay and I love to kayak it’s the perfect spot for us to live. We’ve enjoyed kayaking on many of our lakes. Some are private so you would need to know someone who lives on the water or in some cases just lives in that town. Like Hampstead’s popular Sunset Lake which is open to all residents, so no need to live on the water to have access to it.

Some of our local ponds and lakes are listed below. There are many more we’ve been out on and love dearly.

Angle Pond located in Sandown NH…There is no public access, you would need permission to launch a boat from the Angle Pond Camp ground. This campground offer season camping sites as well some limited transit sites.

Beaver Lake located in Derry NH
Public access is located on route 102, Beaver lake is good sized at about 134 acres. No personal watercraft allowed.

Big Island Pond aka Island Pond and is located in Atkinson , Hampstead and Derry NH
This is a very popular private pond with day access for fishing only, a permit and key is required and can be purchased at Don’s Market in Hampstead. 500 acres makes a delightful kayaking pond…if you’re lucky enough to know someone who lives on the pond. If you’re into camping there is a Campground again mainly seasonal sites but they have a few transit sites and this is also a waterfront campground.

Lake Massabesic located in Auburn NH
Public access Rte 121 and Rte 28, no swimming allowed as this is the drinking water supply for the city of Manchester NH but for boating…fishing and kayaking this is absolutely awesome… 2900 acres makes for a full day of exploring.

Powwow Pond Located in Kingston and East Kingston NH and is 246 acres, great for fishing…many fisherman I know call this a paradise for them and boating. Pow Wow is a weedy pond so swimming might be limited.

Great Pond Kingston NH is a very popular 204 acre lake with State park access and boat launching.

Country Pond Kingston and Newton NH 306 acres . Very limited access…we’ve never been out on this lake.

Sunset lake aka Washpond Hampstead NH 151 acres pond with access for Hampstead residents only. Jay and I can kayak this lake in about an hour.

Pawtuckaway State Park Located in Nottingham NH…This is an awesome state park which offers 5,500 acres for camping, exploring the many trails, picnicking, fishing, swimming and boating. The park sits on the shores of the 803-acre Pawtuckaway Lake. We love kayaking here…fishing and boating is very popular. Public access and 803 acres of lake plus boat launches make this very desirable…get here early!

Powwow Pond Kingston New Hampshire

256 acres

There is a public boat access and depending on the season there can be a sea of aquatic vegetation spreading over the pond. While you will have some power boats dotting the pond it remains relatively unspoiled and ideal for the nature lover.

The pond is a fisherman’s delight and an ideal spot for flat-water canoeing or kayaking. One can paddle through a channel of fairly pristine marsh to Country Pond.

Winter time brings a multitude of outdoor activities from ice skating to ice watching.

The Powwow River, between Country Pond and Powwow Pond is home to the most extensive complex of Atlantic white cedar swamp forest wetlands in the state of New Hampshire and is also known as one of the largest and most productive aquifers.
